Fall 2022 - Slave Lake Alberta
After booking my fall white tail hunt in February of 2022, I spent countless hours imagining a plethora of outcomes. I wondered if my buck would be a typical 5x5, a non-typical with character, or have a drop tine. Would I pull the trigger the first day or have to wait until the very last hour, or would I even see anything? Despite experiencing some apprehension about my decision to book my first ever guided hunt, Troy, quickly quelled any feeling of anxiety I’d had during my eight and half months wait, with the aura of competence he projected upon meeting him face to face for the first time. His calm demeanor coupled with a firm hand shake solidified that his air of confidence was genuine. Giving off no vibe of uncertainty or stress, I knew immediately I had made the right choice. I have always been a firm believer that actions speak louder than words. Clearly the Fosters share this philosophy as they strived to ensure everyone had the best experience possible. They demonstrated they were listening by accommodating even the simplest of requests within their capacity to do so. Daily, before and after each hunt, Troy, Lisa and Tom met with us to recap the events of the day, strategize the game plan for the next day and share stories of guests that had been there before us (T.J. “Little Bear” even made a couple of cameo appearances). Simply put, The Fosters are a welcoming family of authentic people. The meals were great and Laura even put on a turkey dinner with all the fixing, to celebrate America’s thanksgiving. (truly appreciated by all, Thanks Laura!) I would be remiss if I did not also give a big shout out of thanks to Lisa, who in addition to guiding Rich, she somehow found the time to regularly prepare fresh baked goodies. Everyone loved the butter tarts (especially Troy). During my stay, I saw plenty of deer, passed up a number of smaller bucks, had a couple close encounters with shooters, eventually pulling the trigger and taking my personal best white tail, literally within the last hour of my hunt. Although my typical 5 x 5 doesn’t make the record books, it is exactly what I wanted and my experience was as rewarding as it will be memorable. You can take my word and those of others that have had the pleasure of spending time with the Fosters and experiencing their hospitality, booking a hunt with North Alberta Outfitters, is definitely the right thing to do.
Fall 2022 - Slave Lake, Alberta
We had a fall black bear hunt with Troy and his son, Tom. Their family treated us very well, and were an absolute pleasure to be around. Tom and Troy were extremely knowledgeable about the area, including all of the various hunts and animals. They were also extremely skilled in guiding - baiting, setting us up for success in the blinds, tracking, and skinning. One of the other things that we appreciated about them is that they were very accommodating and honest. My father is an older guy and has some physical limitations, but Troy and Tom understood this and still got him to bag two bears. We were a bit leery of doing this hunt, as we hadn’t done anything like this before, but the Fosters made us feel at home and put us in great positions to fill our tags and have a great time all the while. If you are wanting to see gorgeous country, interact with great people, get some animals, and have fun at the same time, hunting with Troy and his family is the way to go. We look forward to hopefully hunting with them again in the future.
Winter Wolf Hunt - 2020 - Watford City ND
Just completed a wolf hunt with Troy and his son Tom. My hunt was not successful with a wolf kill, but it was not due to lack of effort by Troy and Tom. I saw plenty of wolf and had them howling all around me in my blind, but they just would not expose themselves to a shot. Troy knows his area very well and put us down in what I thought to be very good sites. The bait sites where well maintained and by the amount of activity in the area, were well placed. Accommodations were excellent, all the comforts of home! Home cooked meals and lots of baked goodies for lunches. Troy and his family are top notched hosts and try extremely hard to make their home, yours while you are there. already planning my next adventure with North Alberta Outfitters. A great experience for the seasoned hunter or the first timer! I highly recommend you try these guys out!!
Spring 2018 - North of Slave Lake, Alberta
Could not be happier with my experience. I had the privilege of being asked by a couple of Troy and Lisa’s longtime customers, Sam Humphrey and Tim Anderson on a spring bear hunt. A little nervous at first about staying in a tent camp - nothing to be nervous about. The accommodations are second to none along with the food. They take care of your every need and you will feel a little guilty as they won’t let you so much as raise a finger! Now, onto the hunt. The guides are amazing and take great pride in getting you not only on bears - but the right bears. There is a friendly and healthy competition amongst the guides to get their hunters on the right bear. I had one of Lisa and Troy’s son as my guide - TJ(a professional European hockey player). What a great young man as where all the other guides!! I personally had bears all around me and shot my two bear limit the second night. A very large black and a large chocolate that will both look great in my trophy room. My hat goes off to North Alberta Outfitters. It is really neat to see neat people do great things and that’s exactly what Lisa and Troy do! I can assure you I will be back!
Spring 2017 - Slave Lake, Alberta
I had an absolute blast on my hunt with North Alberta Outfitters. The guides were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had a group of 10 hunters and limited out with 20 bears. We have already booked our hunt to go again in 2018. I highly recommend for anyone on the fence to give them a try, you will not be disappointed. World class hunting from World class people. Thanks again, Mike Englert

Bear Spring 2016 - Slave Lake
This was one of the greatest hunting experiences of my life. Bear hunting was on the top of my "bucket list" and North Alberta Outfitters made this dream come true in style. The accomodations, food, guiding were all absolutely First Class. Troy, Lisa and Thomas (my guide), really helped make this a trip of a lifetime. Of course, hunting success is very important. I shot a 300lb & 500lb spring black bear. That to me is incredible for a first time bear hunt ( especially for a 70 yr old fat man ). I give this operation the highest recommendation possible and will answer any questions you may have. If Troy, Lisa and Thomas ever make it to Minneapolis, I will take Troy and Thomas smallmouth bas fishing and my wife Cathy can take Lisa to the Mall of America ( good luck with that Troy ). Thank you guys again for a wonderful hunt!
